Rule Sheet for T-Rex vs Raptor Board Game
For this rule sheet we had to start from bare bones. First we had to find research on what is the most popular sport and what type of game board would attract an older audience.
Game Summery
For our game this is a 2 player game meant for ages 40+. This game is a lucked base game in which you have each player have a player board and has to roll 5 different color dice to see what stats get increase for the round. This will happen for 5 rounds. At the end of the 5 rounds both player will compare on whose stat is bigger in numbers and whoever has the most stats won they will get +5 to the final roll. The final roll is when you roll the five dice one more time and see who has the bigger roll. The bigger amount in the final roll decides the winner.
Development
When started developing this game we had no idea where to start. What we did was researched a bunched of games that would interest a 40 year old. we had not much luck since we are thinking in a view if a person that is age 40 what would he play for fun. Then we saw a game called Dice City. We like how the format of the game is but it might be to complicated for a 40 year old so we toned it down a bit. We decided to keep the dice mechanic but had to think of a way that it will relate to sports. So we came up with stats that that have to do with sports and that is how the dice will corollate with it. and the we came up with the training phase and the final roll phase. The training phase was the 5 rounds that the player has to roll the dice for increasing stats. The final roll phase is the final decision on who wins the game (one final roll to end it).
Problems encountered
there was a few problems that were encountered when playtesting the game and rereading the rule sheet. one was with the game play problem which was I did not think it was possible but what if there was a tie in the final roll. what we came up with is writing another rule for this. In case of a tie in the final roll reroll all the dice again and add that roll to the previous final roll. The other problem was that when one of the procedures was a bit confusing. so we took out the There should only be a total of 5 points obtained for the whole game (not to each player) and added Whoever has the greater amount for each stat, one point is given to the player for the given stat. One other thing was that we added images to give more context and clarity about the setup of the game.
